FrictionPass for
Government & Institutional Use

FrictionPass is purpose-built for institutional credential delivery. Our platform is designed to meet the security, compliance, and scalability requirements of government and institutional pass programs.

Active pursuits

Verticals we are pursuing.

๐Ÿชช
Mobile Driver's Licenses (mDL)
FrictionPass is pursuing enrollment and distribution partnerships with state DMV programs operating under the ISO 18013-5 standard. 14 states are currently live on Apple Wallet and 11 on Google Wallet as of 2026. We are targeting Florida DMV as our first institutional relationship given our headquarters location.
๐Ÿ”’
Concealed Carry Weapon (CCW) Permits
FrictionPass is pursuing state-by-state partnerships to deliver digital CCW permits to Apple Wallet and Google Wallet. Every state issues CCW permits under its own framework โ€” we are building the relationships to serve each independently. This vertical is a priority. FrictionPass is also pursuing partnerships with USCCA, NRA, and state rifle associations as distribution channels. The pilot community and CCW community share similar characteristics โ€” tight-knit, word-of-mouth driven, and underserved by existing digital credential infrastructure.
๐Ÿš—
Auto Insurance Verification
Digital auto insurance verification cards are not yet standardized across law enforcement jurisdictions. FrictionPass is targeting regional and independent insurance agencies โ€” not the national carriers who already have app infrastructure โ€” as our initial distribution channel.
๐Ÿ“‹
Professional Licenses
FrictionPass is designed to deliver any credential that requires periodic renewal โ€” nursing licenses, contractor licenses, real estate licenses, and more. The recurring renewal cycle creates a natural subscription revenue model for issuing institutions.
๐Ÿš˜
Vehicle Registration
Several states are piloting digital vehicle registration. FrictionPass is monitoring state legislation and positioning to serve as a delivery partner as programs go live.

FAA Airman & Medical Certificates
H.R. 2247, the Airmen Certificate Accessibility Act, passed the U.S. House in 2026 and mandates the FAA to enable digital airman and medical certificates by November 30, 2028. FrictionPass is pursuing a partnership role in this federal digitization effort. With approximately 750,000 active FAA certificate holders โ€” and medical certificates expiring every 6โ€“24 months โ€” this vertical represents significant recurring credential delivery volume. Our target distribution partner is AOPA (Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association).
